Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl: How To Get Darkrai

When Nintendo released Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl on 19th November 2021, many players quickly noticed that they could not catch the legendary Pokemon Darkrai and wondered if there would ever be a way to obtain him.

On 15th March 2022, Nintendo answered fans' outcry and announced that Darkrai would finally be available for players to capture in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl for a limited time.

The Pokemon is not only a fan favorite, but a source of nostalgia for many fans thanks to the unique way it must be caught. The original Pokemon Diamond & Pearl games allowed players to catch Darkrai with a Member Card, which could only be obtained by attending an in-person Pokemon event or a limited-time wi-fi event.

Players who want to add the legendary Pokemon to their party in the remakes will need to follow a similar process. You can follow along with this guide to capture Darkrai in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl during the event.

How To Obtain The Member Card - Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

Just like in the original Pokemon Diamond & Pearl games, trainers playing Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl will need to obtain a Member Card before encountering Darkrai. 

The Member Card is a limited-time-only item and can only be obtained during the special Mystery Event from 1st April to 30th April 2022.

To obtain the Member Card, players can open the Mystery Gift feature on their copy of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. On the Mystery Gift Screen, select the 'Get Via Internet' option. Players will then receive a notification letting them know they've received the gift.

Once trainers obtain the Member Card, they'll need to enter the Hall of Fame and obtain the National Pokedex before activating it. In other words, you'll essentially need to complete the game before using the Member Card or obtaining Darkrai.

How To Catch Darkrai - Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

Once players obtain and activate the Member Card, they can then journey out to capture the legendary Pokemon Darkrai.

Trainers can follow these steps to catch Darkrai:

1. Go to Canalave City.
2. Walk into the house with a blue roof, just a few steps north of the Pokemon Center.
3. Talk to the NPC.
4. Follow the path to meet Darkrai.

Players will then be able to battle Darkrai and capture the Pokemon if they choose. Trainers should be careful not to deplete all of the Pokemon's HP if they wish to capture it.
