After more than 16 years of waiting, veteran players of the Age of Empires (AOE) franchise can finally rejoice thanks to the arrival of Age of Empires IV. In this guide, we'll be showing you how to hunt Deer efficiently. Deer is one of several huntable animals and typically wander around in packs of three. Interestingly, Deer are comparable with Gazelles seen in previous iterations of the game.
It's recommended that players push the Deer toward the Town Centre or Mill using a military unit and then hunt them using two or more Villagers. Doing this is more efficient because it will reduce the walking distance of your Villagers and will save players loads of valuable time.
However, players who are unfamiliar with the game's mechanics may not know how to do this. So with that said, here's our guide on how to push Deer in Age of Empires 4.
How to push Deer in Age of Empires 4
Before starting, it's important to note that you will require between three and four Villagers to hunt Deer.
Using three Villagers will ensure you can gather most of the food from a Deer carcass before returning to collect the rest. In comparison, four Villagers will allow you to gather all the food (although this doesn't include food lost due to decay).
Firstly, you should ensure that your Mill is positioned as close to as many Deer as possible. Next, select your Scout and click towards the Deer in the direction you want the Deer to go.
Ensure that there is a straight line between the Scout, the Deer and the intended direction toward the Mill. Once the Deer begins to move, use your Scout to click immediately behind the Deer until it reaches the Mill or your intended location.
Once the Deer is close enough to the Mill, you can use your Villagers to kill the Deer and gather the food.
