It was recently announced by the official Sims Twitter page that the game will soon be free to download on various platforms on the 18th October 2022. The base game will be available via the PC EA app or Origin, Mac via Origin, Steam, Playstation 4|5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One systems.
Any additional content will require players to make separate purchases, as expansion packs will remain paid-for content. For players who have previously purchased The Sim 4 base game will receive an additional Desert Luxe Kit as a gift from developers, the kit gifts players with new indoor and outdoor furniture. Players are able to change their furniture into neutral tones “for a bright and sophisticated space”.
