One month after Blizzard surprised fans with remasters of Warcraft: Orcs and Humans and Warcraft II, GOG is forced to delist the original, DRM-free classic titles from its storefront.
That, however, isn't stopping GOG. It has officially joined the GOG Preservation Program, which aims to "make games live forever" and support them for "generations to come."
To be clear: If you own the games already, they won't be removed from your GOG library. You can also purchase them before 13 December 2024 and keep them forever. To sweeten the deal, GOG has even provided fans with a discount code, shaving off another $2 from the Warcraft I & II Bundle on its storefront, where the bundle's standard price is $14.99.
Use discount code: MakeWarcraftLiveForever
Even though Warcraft I and II are getting delisted on 13th of December, they will not be removed from your library and GOG will maintain those titles for everyone that bought them before that date.
The remaster of the original Warcraft: Orcs and Humans will set you back $9.99, and Warcraft 2 is $14.99 on Battle.net.
However, many fans don't like the graphical art styles, and some just want to play the oldies without issue. That's why the Warcraft 1 version at GOG, which makes multiplayer a bit easier thanks to a custom config, for example, is preferred by some fans.
It is important to note that the original Warcraft I and II are also available via Battle.net at the time of writing.

Will this be the end of the debacle, or are there more moves to come from either GOG or Blizzard? I'm quite interested to find out!
