The free games just keep on coming. The latest free game on Steam is Geneshift, an indie game developed by Ben Johnson.
If Geneshift looks oddly familiar, it is because the game is inspired by Grand Theft Auto 2, offering some top-down Battle Royale action for players to enjoy.
About Geneshift
First and foremost, you can head on over to the Geneshift page on Steam to claim this free game. If you pick up the game before the offer expires on 13th May at 18:00 GMT+1, it will be yours to keep forever.
This free game looks incredibly fun to play, and it isn't a massive time-consuming mission either. Geneshift offers turbo-fast matches, with each Battle Royale only lasting three minutes.
A description of Geneshift reads:
"Geneshift is a GTA2-inspired Battle Royale with turbo-fast rounds. Loot and survive multiple intense showdowns as you level up for the grand finale. Grow stronger by unlocking 100+ tactical items such as cars, bazookas, trip-wires and teleportation!"
If you just want to practice some Battle Royale without getting crushed by other players, you can join a bot match. Another interesting feature in Geneshift is if you die, you can keep playing as a zombie and prepare for the next round. If you kill a living player you can come back to life and get a second chance.

There are daily leaderboards to compete in to earn rewards, and there are five game modes to participate in, namely:
- Play Battle Royale
- Capture the Flag
- Team Deathmatch
- Conquest
- Checkpoint Racing.
The developer has been working on Geneshift for over 10 years, and while it is not perfect or complete, it is an excellent free game to try out.
