From the grassy plains to the rocky ridges to the sandy dunes, there are unique biomes to traverse that can challenge their vehicle or their patience. The waters pose the most challenge to them, as underestimating their depths can cause their vehicle to be flooded, which is why the Echo Sounder can be valuable.
This unique tool can detect the depths of a lake or river, which can help prevent their vehicle from getting flooded and safely crossing them. In this guide, we've detailed how players can get and best utilize the Echo Sounder in Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game to avoid getting washed away.
How To Get & Use The Echo Sounder In Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game?
During their expeditions or explorations of the three map locations, players must tackle challenging terrains, overcome rocky cliffs, and cross through bodies of water. Regarding the latter, sometimes getting stuck in water can be a stressful experience for players, especially when using the Anchor and Winch, which can help them escape a watery grave.
However, this can all be avoided by using the Echo Sounder, a device used to measure the depths of bodies of water. This device can greatly help during exploration, especially when players are unsure of a lake or a pond or bring a vehicle without sufficient height, but it's valuable in expeditions.
Acquiring the Echo Sounder is much easier than acquiring most tools and gadgets, as it's unlocked for all players by default. Accessing it can be done when in-game, whether it's in Free Roam or deployed in an expedition, by pressing the button assigned to the Devices wheel.
After pressing the assigned key, a wheel will appear on screen, and they can scroll through the option until the Echo Sounder is highlighted. They can hit the corresponding key or button to use or activate the device, and once it sends out a signal, color-coded pings will be displayed in the water ahead.
Green pings indicate that the water is shallow, while yellow pings signify that players can cross the lake but may need assistance. However, if red pings appear, it means that driving through a specific area will cause the water to flood the vehicle, making it unsafe to cross.
Players must continuously use the Echo Sounder to receive pings while crossing the water, as it has a limited range until they safely navigate it. They can then proceed to complete the expedition or continue exploring the expansive environments to discover new items, areas, and more.
