At long last, fans of the iconic Alien universe can sink their teeth into a brand new title from Cold Iron Studios (in collaboration with Disney's 20th Century Games), Aliens Fireteam Elite. The third-person, co-op shooter that sees players attempt to eliminate the daunting Xenomorph threat is out now on PC, PS4/PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X, and it has already seen some rave reviews from critics. At releases, on 24th August 2021, the developer unleashed a day one update, filled with fixes, improvements, and even a huge new piece of content.
Here's everything you need to know about the update in the full Aliens Fireteam Elite 1.01 patch notes, starting with the download size.
Aliens Fireteam Elite day one update download size
Those who download the game from 24th August via Steam, Microsoft Store or PlayStation store will already have the day one update as well.
However, if you purchased a physical copy, you will need to download the update (1.01), which weighs in at roughly 14 GB. It is well worth it, considering the content inside.
Horde mode added in Aliens Fireteam Elite 1.01 update
Those who've played the likes of Gears of War will know exactly what a horde mode is. In Aliens Fireteam Elite's 1.01 update, the developers have added Horde mode to the game.
Players are tasked to see how long they can survive waves of Xenomorphs and have to work together if they want any real chance of survival.
Horde Mode on harder difficulties will reward you with much better loot. However, the escalating waves of Xenomorphs do make surviving long quite difficult on Extreme or Insane difficulty levels.
