In an announcement post on the EA website, the partnership is explained in further detail.
With the option to pre-order today, 15th November will see Star Wars⢠Jedi: Fallen Order launch and players on both Origin and Steam will be able to play with each other in multiplayer games.
In the next few months, other games such as Apex Legends, FIFA 20, The Sims 4 and Battlefield V will become available on the Valve platform and not require Origin to play.
Next Spring, subscription service EA Access will also be available on Steam as the first such model to release on the digital distribution service platform.
The Vault brings a multitude of EA games to subscribers as well as discounts and member benefits in-game, which will now be granted to those who subscribe via Steam. This is not unique to EA, with other publishers such as Ubisoft launching similar services for their own game collections in recent months.
Players often criticise the need for multiple platforms to launch all of their favourite games.
The Epic Games Launcher is required for the hugely popular battle royale Fortnite as well as other titles purchased from the Epic Games Store while Origin was previously the only way to play games from EA.
Steam does not just host Valve titles and is the biggest storefront and launcher for video games. While Epic is using exclusivity to try entice customers with games only found on their platform, Valve reign supreme with their vast catalogue and frequent sales offered during the Summer, Christmas and right now for Halloween.
