After over a year of silence, developer Techland has released an update on Dying Light 2 with new gameplay footage.
The highly-anticipated sequel was delayed indefinitely back in January 2020, with reports around studio mismanagement prompting some concern around the title.
Techland has finally given an update however in tongue-in-cheek fashion, with the developers reading out explicit fan comments on Twitter dismayed at the lack of news.
This is followed by a more sincere address thanking fans for their support, stating: “This is a huge and complex project and we needed time to make sure it lived up to our vision. All of us are putting our hearts into delivering a game that you’ll keep playing for months.
“We’ll be ready to start talking about Dying Light 2 very soon.”
Thankfully it wasn’t just a teaser for more news, as they also dropped some new footage featuring combat and some freakish enemies.
While an exact release date isn’t mentioned, ‘2021’ flashes up at the end of the update — so at least it has some kind of release window.
Dying Light 2 is a sequel to 2015's first-person survival horror game, where you roam around a post-apocalyptic world using parkour mechanics to take down zombie hordes.
Dying Light 2 is set to be released on PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
