The long-awaited visual novel strategy RPG hybrid from developers Witchcraft and Hyde, Digimon Survive, releases in July 2022 across all major gameplay platforms following multiple delays since the game's reveal at the 20th Anniversary celebration of the Digimon anime series in 2018.

Accordingly, publisher Bandai Namco presents a brand-new adventure set in a mysterious new world, with characters designed by Uichi Ukumo and music by the acclaimed artist Tomoki Miyoshi. Beyond this, players dictate the pace and direction of the game's story as they explore one of the many different endings.

Digimon Survive - Release Date And Platforms

Digimon Survive will release globally on 29th July 2022 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Microsoft Windows PC. Notably, the game will be released early on Nintendo Switch and PS4 in Japan on 28th July 2022.

Ironically, the launch date for Digimon Survive coincides with the upcoming ARPG Xenoblade Chronicles 3 by Monolith Soft for the Nintendo Switch and follows several delays since it was announced during the anime's 20th Anniversary celebration event in July 2018.

Digimon Survive - Gameplay and Features

Digimon is a visual novel game with survival strategy RPG elements. The game follows a group of teens (Minoru Hyuuga, Aoi Shibuya, Saki Kimishima, Ryo Tominaga, Shuuji Kayama, Kaito Shinonome, Miu Shinonome) that get lost on a school camping trip led by Takuma Momozuka. However, things turn south after they are transported to a strange world of monsters and danger.

Consequently, the group must fight through an animated world, with many difficult decisions and deadly battles, to return home. Throughout the game, players' choices impact the evolution of their monster allies and the endgame; battles in the game are fought in 2D, in a more classic SRPG style. Digimon Survive will comprise various gameplay types, ranging from Free Battle to Drama parts, through which players must unravel the game's storyline.
