Survival game Chernobylite is now officially out on Steam in Early Access following a successful Kickstarter campaign that saw The Farm 51 raise over $200,000.
While many games do not see the light of day once money is raised on the website, Chernobylite has survived and will plunge players into the heart of Chernobyl's radioactive environment as Igor, a physicist who used to work at the doomed Power Plant.
3D scans and recreations of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone in Ukraine have been used to create an authentic map of the area in this science-fiction survival horror experience.
Stretch goals were hit that see an expanded, explorable Power Plant, weapon crafting, real sounds from the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone and a techno-shaman character you can recruit to your team added to the game.
Other 'stalkers' will become either friend or foe in your search for your lost girlfriend and the discovery of a dark secret, all while dealing with hostile military forces and savage creatures that now inhabit the CEZ.
You are free to explore the stunning yet haunting world in your own way and at your own pace as you seek to survive and thrive.
Other titles such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl sought to channel the same Ukranian radioactive wasteland, while the Fallout series takes it a step further by bringing players into a post-apocalyptic future where radiation has turned the world upside-down.

What makes Chernobylite different is the attention to detail, endless survival experience with 8 hours of non-linear storytelling affected by player decisions and 'free-of-charge access to the upcoming updates adding new episodes, locations, characters, and equipment to the game.'
Chernobylite is available on Steam Early Access from today. The Farm 51 hope for a full release in 'between 10 to 14 months' with all future additions free to those who purchase the game now or following the full release date.
