The trendy free-to-play mobile puzzle game, Candy Crush Saga, will soon receive a new limited-time Sonic the Hedgehog 2 event, thanks to a collaboration between King and Paramount Pictures.
The announcement comes just weeks before the highly anticipated release of Paramount Pictures' Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie and boasts several features that should excite all Sonic fans, ranging from new Sonic-inspired boosters to themed background music.
Early reviews of the movie, starring film icons Jim Carrey and Ben Schwartz, have been positive. Still, while fans eagerly await the movie's release, they might want to check out the Candy Crush Saga event, kicking off from 31st March until 4th April.
King partners with Sonic 2 to bring epic Candy Crush Saga collab
All players of level 25 and above will be able to participate in the upcoming Sonic themed limited-time event in Candy Crush Saga.
According to the official press release, "players must collect Sonic Spin Dash Candies as they work their way through the levels on a quest to help Sonic and Tails recover the master emerald from Dr Robotnik, Knuckles and the Jelly Queen. As players collect candies to fuel Sonic’s energy and complete the movie-themed treasure hunt, they will unlock a variety of special treats and boosters that can be used in-game."
During the treasure hunt, players will come across plenty of iconic characters from the Sonic franchise. In addition, the Candy Crush Saga team have also been hard at work in bringing Sonic inspired music and sound effects to the upcoming in-game event.
The Vice President of Mobile Partnerships at Activision Blizzard King, Jennifer Sharp, had a lot to say about this exciting new collaboration.
"Partnering with Paramount on Sonic the Hedgehog 2 presented an incredible opportunity for the King team," Sharp said, adding, "Sonic is a beloved character worldwide and one that fits seamlessly within the narrative of our game."

SVP of Global Partnerships at Paramount Pictures, Irene Trachtenberg, had similar sentiment on this partnership.
"Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is about teamwork, exciting adventures (to save the world!) and having fun. We are happy to partner with Candy Crush Saga, tapping into King’s game experience, and loving and engaged fanbase."
Trachtenberg further added, "It’s rewarding to pair these two iconic franchises for a unique experience that Sonic fans and Candy Crush Saga players alike can be surprised and delighted with ahead of the film's release."
Candy Crush Saga continues to be one of the most popular video game franchises globally, and given the excitement for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, such collaboration makes sense.
