The Steam Halloween Sale runs between 28th October until 1st November with a vast collection of games available at reduced cost. With new releases and scary classics, these are the five top deals and best games that are worth picking up this year.
Prey (-50%, £9.99)
This reimagining of the 2006 title of the same name has been underrated since its release back in 2017.
Playing as Morgan Yu exploring the Talos I space station, you face a hostile alien race called the Typhon after a failed experiment.
You have to survive while using their own abilities against them such as shapeshifting as well as an assortment of weapons.
With three different endings and engaging gameplay, Prey brings a lot of replayability and is more than worth the price for some single player scares.
Left 4 Dead 2 (-80%, £1.43)
Left 4 Dead 2 sees players face an endless zombie apocalypse. This Valve title is widely considered a must-have for any Steam library and it is a steal for less than two dollars.
With co-op and multiplayer modes, you can take on the undead with up to three friends in the Campaign or become one of the Infected in Versus.
If you haven't played a Left 4 Dead game before, you can get the original for the same price in this Halloween sale.
RESIDENT EVIL 2 / BIOHAZARD RE:2 (-50%, £22.49)
This is more than a remake, this is a total rebuild of the classic title.
With updated and upgraded graphics, audio and controls, you will be fully immersed in the story and its highs, lows and jumpscares.
If you're not unsure or not sold yet, check out The First Hour episode featuring this Resident Evil 2 remake that shows off some of the story and gameplay.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent (-85%, £2.24)
This horror game was popularised by playthroughs on YouTube and helped launch the career of the platform's biggest star PewDiePie.
Far from the titles that often get produced as YouTuber bait, Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a truly terrifying experience when you have no knowledge of what you could encounter within the castle.
With puzzle elements and monsters you can see, as well as those you can only hear, Amnesia also has various mods that have added custom modes and missions that will leave you wanting to leave a light on as you play.
Limbo (-77%, £1.60)
Not gorey or gruesome, this indie platformer makes up for its black and white aesthetic by managing to still be creepy.
The store page gives very little for players to go on about the nature of this game, simply stating 'Uncertain of his sister's fate, a boy enters LIMBO' and this game is best entered into without much further research.
While this game is not long, its unusual yet emotive story will make you feel like you have been on a significant journey by the end.
The Steam Halloween sale lasts until 1st November and some games have special events that will run until then providing exclusive skins and game modes that can be found on the sale page.
