The initial changes to the battle pass for Apex Legends Season 22 were met with significant backlash after Respawn Entertainment decided to monetize the way players accessed the battle pass. Recognizing the community's discontent, Respawn has acknowledged the criticism and overhauled some of their changes.
Apex Legends Battle Pass Overhauled For Season 22 After Major Backlash
Season 22 of Apex Legends introduced a new Battle Pass system, requiring players to purchase the two battle passes with cash only, removing the option to use Apex Coins. This change led to backlash from the community, resulting in 30,000 negative reviews on Steam within two weeks. In response, Respawn Entertainment reversed their decision, announcing on Twitter that they will restore the option to purchase the Premium Battle Pass for 950 Apex Coins.

Respawn acknowledged their mishandling of the situation in a recent tweet on X, stating, "You've spoken, and we've listened. With the release of Season 22, we will restore the ability to get the Premium Battle Pass for 950 Apex Coins."
The changes to split the Battle Pass into two parts and keep the 60-level pass will remain. Players can unlock the Premium Battle Pass by completing in-game challenges, and in the second split, it can be unlocked for 950 Apex Coins, similar to the previous system.
The developers also committed to improving communication with the community, focusing on addressing cheaters, game stability, and quality of life updates. They promised to be more timely, transparent, and consistent in their communication.
We now await the game stability bug fixes and the overall content coming in Season 22, with patch notes to be shared on August 5th when the season releases.
