Balan Wonderworld announced for Xbox Series X from Sonic co-creators

Ahead of the Xbox Games Showcase, Square Enix debuted Balan Wonderworld from the co-creators of Sonic The Hedgehog. 

Directed by Yuji Naka, the former head of Sonic Team, Balan Wonderworld is a 3D platformer with a musical theme - with players switching between 80 costumes to utilise different abilities. 

This is also the first game from Square Enix’s new studio Balan Company, which also features veteran developer Naoto Ohshima who created the original designs for Sonic. 

It looks like the kind of platformer Xbox is sorely lacking, full of personality with echoes of Nights. 

Balan Wonderworld releases on Xbox One and Xbox Series X in Spring 2021.
