Arc World Tour 2020 events have been cancelled due to the Coronavirus, developer Arc System Works has announced.

In a statement released on their website, it reads: “The health of our competitors, staff members and community members is our top priority.

“This decision also comes at the face of increased difficulty in facilitating a fair competition throughout the tour.”

The developer however is considering staging Arcrevo Japan 2020 and Arc World Tour 2020 finals as standalone events, with a decision set to be made in the coming months.

Arcrevo Japan 2020 was scheduled to take place on 18th July 2020.

This could lead to many other developers like Bandai Namco and Capcom to follow suit with their respective tours, which haven’t yet been entirely cancelled.

Arc System Works also briefly touched upon plans for the 2021 World Tour, stating they’ll assess the situation regarding the virus when considering its future.

It’s set to be a big year for the developer too when it comes to game releases, with Granblue Fantasy Versus released earlier this month and Guilty Gear Strive on the horizon.
