Netflix Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Anime Is A Massive Hit
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners tells the story of David, a lone street kid trying to survive in a dystopian city of technology and body modification. With everything to lose, David embarks on a journey to become an “Edgerunner” or “Cyberpunk.”
As a mercenary outlaw living on the edge and in constant danger, David must navigate a dangerous world or die trying. Viewers follow David as he survives the body modification-obsessed futuristic city of Night City, where failure means death.

Netflix's Cyberpunk: Edgerunners series is produced by the popular anime agency Studio Trigger, the same studio that produced Kill la Kill. Following its premiere on Netflix, anime lovers and gamers alike have expressed positive reception, as evidenced by mostly positive reviews.
At the time of writing, Netflix's Cyberpunk: Edgerunners series has achieved an outstanding audience rating of 4.9 stars out of 5 (209 ratings) on Google. This review is congruent with other review sites, attracting 8.7 out of 10 and 8.6 out of 10 on IMDb and My Anime List, respectively.
This action-packed anime has plenty of gore and nude scenes, which understandably require parental guidance. Although viewers have found several Easter Eggs in the anime hinting at the original game, the anime also expands on many other concepts that Cyberpunk 2077 has yet to do.
Due to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners being a spinoff series of CDPR’s Cyberpunk 2077 and Trigger being the studio to produce the series, anime and gamers alike can experience the best of both worlds.
“Even if it’s hard not to wish that Imaishi and co. had a little more room to expand their take on this world, Edgerunners feels exciting and new enough as it pushes the boundaries of its exciting and hugely inventive visual representation of in-game concepts,” said Polygon writer Kambole Campbell.
The show has also attracted discussion on social media platforms. “I love the game and now the anime; this is absolutely perfect," commented one Twitter user. "Talk about Nova; this show is far exceeding my expectations," said another.
