Teamfight Tactics have grown over the years and have shown off why this game is the premier auto-battler. With the number of updates and sets released for this game, TFT almost always feels fresh for players all over the world. One of the reasons why this game feels alive most of the time is because of the midset updates.
Midset updates are much smaller than full-set updates for TFT. They usually introduce a smaller mechanic that will interact with the main mechanic for a set. This time around, the midset mechanic for TFT is Glitched Carousels. Here, we are going to go over what exactly Glitched Carousels do and how it affects TFT.
What Are Glitched Out Carousels In TFT Set 8.5?
Carousels are a mainstay mechanic in Teamfight Tactics. At certain points of the game, carousels are an opportunity for players to get a random unit with a random item component. With Glitched Out Carousels, things change a bit. According to what Riot has said, Glitched Out Carousels will add an extra element to normal carousels.
One example of this could mean that instead of one item component, two item components could be on a unit. Instead of one item component, it can be a Champion Duplicator and an item component. Sometimes, there is no unit holding an item component. The units could be transformed into item anvils which gives players even more items.
There are even completely new items added to increase the randomness of the Glitched Out Carousels. The best example of this is that there are item eggs that can be holding item components. These eggs will hatch later down the line and give players a large power spike. The Glitched Out Carousels will help the carousel part of the game feel less solved.
How Often Do Glitched Carousels Appear In TFT Set 8.5?
The frequency of Gliched Carousels is actually pretty set in stone. The reason for this is that Riot Games do not want these Gliched Carousels to be too powerful or too weak and make some games very fun and others feel very bad. Here is the chart of how frequently Glitched Carousels should appear in TFT.
Stage | Frequency |
Stage 2 | 20% |
Stages 2 and 4 | 30% |
Stages 2 and 5 | 30% |
Stages 2, 3, and 4 | 5% |
Stages 2, 3, and 5 | 5% |
Stages 2, 4, and 6 | 10% |
As you can see above, no matter what, players will see a Glitched Carousel on Stage 2 every single game. Now there is a 20% chance for that to be the only stage it appears in, but it will always appear in Stage 2. That means in Stage 2, players will need to be prepared for what could come next.
