Battlestate Games

The developers at Battlestate Games have been quick off the mark recently, releasing a flurry of information about Escape from Tarkov. These include a host of promo codes and extensive details about fresh content, such as new weapons, maps, and an intriguing scav boss. The sudden flood of information follows a noticeable drought in new content over recent months.

Evidently, the Battlestate developers felt the urge to atone for their silence, showering players with a torrent of updates – an early Christmas present, it would seem. In recent years, players have been enticed by the promise of an intense, interactive, and thrilling urban warfare map yet to see the light of day.

The release of Streets of Tarkov was very underwhelming, to say the least; players were faced with optimization issues, game crashes, and bugs that outright ruined the experience. In addition, Battlestate Games prematurely teased players with tantalizing glimpses of an interactive BMP featuring an army, destructible walls, and new weapons. Yet when Streets of Tarkov finally rolled out, these promised features were conspicuously absent, remaining unreleased to date.

With the unveiling of the 2023 roadmap, Escape from Tarkov enthusiasts can anticipate the Streets of Tarkov expansion by year's end. This article will guide you through the changes and how to play the updated Streets of Tarkov map!

Escape from Tarkov: Streets of Tarkov Expansion

Over the last few months, Battlestate Games have been releasing new images and information regarding the upcoming Escape from Tarkov map. The information surrounds what players should expect by the end of this year instead of vaguely mentioning release dates after displaying major changes and content, being what we're used to occurring!

Here's what to expect within the new Streets of Tarkov Expansion:

  • New Scav Boss - "Kaban"
  • BTR and (possibly recruitable) Rouge Army
  • New building complex - schools, parks, apartments, gymnasium, Terra group office
  • New strip mall/mall complex, movie theatre

YouTuber "NoiceGuy Tarkov" has dissected the images and teasers for the new Streets of Tarkov expansion, revealing that the expansion will be situated within the Kilmov region of Streets of Tarkov. This area, found in the top-left region of the map near Concordia, has remained relatively under-explored, giving players fresh incentive to venture across the entire map and the new expansion.

That said, Streets of Tarkov will be a new map; this is due to the release of patch 14 this August and the major changes following the patch, such as the expansion, new net code, and new engine updates. Therefore, we can expect major optimization fixes, allowing players that couldn't originally handle the game able to experience the map. Currently, players who obtain the upper tier gaming machines can access Streets of Tarkov due to the map's large scale and slightly rushed design. After the release of patch 14, players' struggles will conclude.

Streets of Tarkov New Update and Content

Streets of Tarkov is going to be the most awesome and authentic Escape from Tarkov experience, with players finally receiving what they were promised years ago!

Escape from Tarkov: Larger Player Lobbies

The original plan for Streets of Tarkov was to support a large number of players per raid, with some estimating 40-60 players. However, optimization issues sidelined this idea. Thankfully, due to the map being released for a while now, the developers have seen this concept wouldn't currently work with them testing raids containing up to twenty players. The servers can get pretty manic.

Following the map's expansion and optimization, the capacity for larger player lobbies should increase. Battlestate Games will likely test thirty- or thirty-five-player lobbies. Since maps like Customs only allow 10-12 players, it's easy to comprehend that Streets of Tarkov will surely be a thrilling, chaotic experience. That said, the developers' ultimate goal is to create an open-world Escape from Tarkov experience, necessitating lobbies of fifty-plus players if players can move from map to map. Therefore, accommodating thirty players on Streets of Tarkov seems a logical step.

Streets of Tarkov Scav Boss Kaban Location

Battlestate Games is introducing a new Streets of Tarkov scav boss, rather than recycling existing ones. The new Scav boss Kaban is speculated to spawn within the car dealership in Streets of Tarkov, turning the dealership into a zone akin to the Lighthouses Water Treatment plant. Players are likely to avoid this area to minimize the risk of dying and losing significant progress. Whether Kaban will spawn in other locations remains to be seen, but he might also appear on the upcoming BMP.

Streets of Tarkov BTR Guide Explained

Following several TarkovTV releases, head developer Nikita has released groundbreaking information on the release of the BTR within Escape from Tarkov - to those who don't know, we encourage you to watch the Concordia teaser trailer below. The BTR comes alongside a rouge scav army, a fully bulletproof usable vehicle, and a mounted 30mm Shipunov 2A42 autocannon! We're expecting players within the BTR to be able to experience protection from the Rouge army as well as the BTR cannon. Except, we're expecting the BTR cannon to be automated, and highly unlikely it's available for player usage; however, it's still possible.

The BTR's primary role is to ferry players across the Streets of Tarkov map. It's not yet clear if players will have interactive experiences or if the BTR will follow a preset route. Players will likely need to pay for the BTR service, possibly costing around 20,000 roubles or depending on Scav karma. But don't expect invincibility while inside this vehicle - it's almost certain players will be able to challenge and destroy the BTR and scav army.

Streets of Tarkov Grenade Launchers, Mines, RPG-7

Developer Nikita has mentioned the implementation of anti-personnel/vehicle mines in this coming update, therefore, allowing players to combat the BTR and deactivate it. Additionally, we can expect to see possibilities with the RPG-7 or grenade launchers to disable and combat these types of situations and vehicles. Players placing claymores have been a possibility within Escape from Tarkov and will be upcoming before the end of 2023.
