Escape from Tarkov 12.12: When is the next Tarkov wipe?

Escape from Tarkov is gearing up for its biggest update in a good while, with the release of the upcoming patch 12.12 introducing a brand new map, Lighthouse, new weapons and attachments, VOIP and new gameplay mechanics like inertia.

It is an eagerly awaited update that will coincide with a character wipe, meaning all players' progress will be deleted, and everyone will start afresh.

A wipe in ETF is one of those bittersweet moments; on the one hand, you do lose all your progress, but with it being accompanied by a huge update, it offers everyone, from new and old players, the opportunity to start grinding from the same theoretical start point.

When the character wipe was going to take place next in ETF has been the subject of much speculation, but it appears (some) confirmation has been given.

When will Escape from Tarkov wipe?

The trailer for the Escape from Tarkov 0.12.12 patch dropped last night, and you can have a look at it below.

The subject of when the servers will be wiped is always a hot one, as the developers, Battlestate Games, always offers cryptic, and sometimes contradictory, answers.

Infamously server wipes "happen on a Thursday", as the community often says tongue (somewhat) in cheek, and current theories suggest that it will happen on Sunday 12th December or Wednesday 22nd December.

However, a recent in-game hint and some other clues have given many in the community confidence that it is, in fact, the 12th of December.

The "Odboldos" cocktail injector was recently changed as part of a pre-wipe event; a cryptic note was also posted to Battlestate Games Twitter.

The Odboldos" cocktail injector's new effective duration was also noted to be "2212secs".

Some have theorised that it points to the 22/12 or 22nd December, though others have actually worked out that 221222 seconds, the 22 at the end coming from the +22 skill points, equals 2.56 days.

Add that time to when the cryptic message was posted to Twitter, and you have 12 am Moscow time on the 12/12/2022, or 9 pm GMT 12th December.

Conclusive? Hardly... but with the developers revealing more and more of the new update and the marketing hype building, it appears that Escape from Tarkov's next server wipe is not long away at all.
