Sons of the Forest Ranged Weapons Locations List

Sons of the Forest features tons of weapons to use as you fight through the hordes of mutants and cannibals trying to kill you. The ranged weapons in the game are especially useful for picking off enemies from a distance or blowing them away when your back is against the wall.

How To Find All Ranged Weapons In Sons of the Forest

There are currently seven ranged weapons among the list of weapons that players can find and use during their playthrough of Sons of the Forest. Below we've listed the description of each weapon as well as where it's found in the game.

The Shotgun Location

The shotgun is a powerful weapon that's more useful in close-range combat situations where mutants or cannibals have swarmed you, and you need something big to push them back. It uses both high-damage buckshot and long-range slugs and can be upgraded with the shotgun rail, flashlight, or laser sight. 

Ammo for the shotgun can be found littered across the map in barrels and supply crates. The shotgun itself can be found in two locations on the map, as shown below, but for a detailed breakdown, check out our guide on how to get the shotgun in Sons of the Forest.  

The Pistol Location

The pistol is the medium-range weapon of choice in Sons of the Forest and offers high versatility, as it's effective against all enemies and can be used more freely. It can also be upgraded with the pistol rail, silencer, laser pointer, or flashlight attachment. Ammo for the weapon can be found easily around the map in crates and barrels.

The Stun Gun Location

The stun gun can only be utilized at a fairly close range to an enemy, and when used successfully, can stop an enemy's movement and send them falling to the ground, giving you the chance to either run or finish them off. The stun gun can only be found in one location on the map, in the same cave you'll find the rebreather in as shown below.

The Revolver Location

The revolver is essentially a more powerful version of the pistol, but it can only hold six rounds of 9mm ammo. It can be found inside the Maintenance C bunker as shown below.

The Bow Location

The Bow is your standard long-range silent killer in Sons of the Forest and needs to be crafted instead of found in the game. If you need help crafting one and finding the items needed to do so, then check out our Sons of the Forest bow guide here. 

As with the other bow-style weapons in the game, you can either craft normal arrows to use with the bow or find modern arrows which are more deadly and accurate. 

The Crossbow Location

The crossbow is a powerful bow-style weapon that offers you powerful one-shot capabilities and a quieter way to kill enemies. The crossbow itself can be found in the food and dining bunker, which requires the maintenance keycard to access.

The Compound Bow Location

The compound bow is an upgraded version of the regular bow and offers everything the bow does, just with a more powerful shot. You'll be able to find the bow inside maintenance bunker B as shown on the map below, and you'll require the shovel to clear the entrance to the bunker.
