Smash Ultimate pro Michael "Riddles" Kim has revealed via social media that he was robbed of several of his belongings while travelling for a tournament in the United States, including his passport, Nintendo Switch, and prize money from the event.
The 18-year-old Canadian, who entered The Comeback, a Smash Ultimate event held in Laurel, Maryland, alongside other top players including Gavin "Tweek" Dempsey, Brian "Cosmos" Kalu, Chris "WaDi" Boston, explained on Twitter that after leaving his bag in tournament organizer's Calvin "GimR" Lofton's vehicle and heading out to a convenience store, he returned to find the car broken into, with his belongings gone.
Welp. I leave out of gimrs car to a wawas. Come back and my bag is stolen. Passport, switch, tournament winnings, everything was in there. Just end me already

As the Terry, Kazuya, and Ken player mentions, not only was his passport taken from him, but also his Nintendo Switch, as well as the prize money he earned at The Comeback, which is an undisclosed fee.
The unfortunate news from Riddles comes after missing his flight back to Canada due to being unable to provide a negative COVID-19 test, as pharmacy store chain Walgreens failed to return his results on time.
I did a covid test yday at 10am and im still waiting on the results which i need to fly back and my flights at 6am. Unfortunate

As usual, the Smash community is rallying behind Riddles, with Melee legend Juan "Hungrybox" Debiedma calling for a GoFundMe so fans and fellow top players can pitch in to help the Canadian.

Sadly, this isn't the first time in the past few weeks in which a member of the Smash community was reportedly robbed, as Griffin "Fatality" Miller was assaulted by two individuals, losing all his savings in the process.
Luckily, the story had a somewhat good ending, as the Captain Falcon main explained he was able to recover most of his savings.
