After New York Jets player Le’Veon Bell previously showed interest in hosting a Smash Ultimate tournament, he’s now teaming up with Jigglypuff pro Juan “Hungrybox” Debiedma on an event.
The unlikely duo have announced they’re collaborating on new online tournament The Box, taking place from 8-10th May and featuring a ,000 prize pool.
The tournament is entirely free to enter with an 8,192 entrant cap, although only players in North America can enter due to latency issues.
The crossover no one expected.@LeVeonBell and I are teaming together with @TeamLiquid to bring you the sickest online event the Smash world has seen.

With the Smash World Tour 2020 postponed in its opening year, the Smash community have come together to create their own online events with the Quarantine Series - with Pound Online taking place this weekend.
Hungrybox, most known for playing Melee, has also been integral in pushing the Smash competitive scene - calling out Nintendo for their lack of support on numerous occasions.
The only thing holding back the Smash competitive scene is the game itself, with many top players recently rallying online to bring attention to the poor online experience.
Bell is a known fan of Smash Ultimate, having competed in his first tournament Ultimate Pizza 30 back in January.
The Box takes place on 8-10th May 2020. You can sign up for the tournament here.
