It essentially means that something is wrong with the matchmaking and that's why you are unable to play the game.

Unfortunately, the issue is almost always on the server's side, and that means that there is nothing you can do to fix the Charcoalbeard error, as that's something developers will need to deal with and fix on their side.

The only thing you could do is to make sure that your internet is working properly, maybe restart your modem and the game, but that's about it. If this doesn't do the trick, you will simply have to wait until the issue is resolved by developers.
