Sea of Thieves has plenty to celebrate after the pirate adventure game had just reached 25 million players across all platforms this year. For this, developer Rare, awarded pirates free Gold to thank them for their support over the years and the celebrations will keep going.
Now, the game has reached yet another milestone this year when they confirmed five million copies of Sea of Thieves were sold on Steam. Once again, the developer is awarding a free reward for all pirates that should have them raising a Grog or three.
Free reward for five million copies SoT sold on Steam
Sea of Thieves was made available on Valve’s storefront, Steam in June 2020 as the game had previously been exclusive via Xbox and Windows PC. The game was one of the first exclusive titles to be made available through Xbox’s subscription service, Xbox Game Pass.
More than a year later, the game has sold over five million copies on Steam and Rare are celebrating this achievement. This was announced on a blog post this week as the developer is rewarding all pirates with yet another free reward.
“As we’re never ones to shy away from a celebration, we’re marking this latest milestone of five million Steam sales with a special gift for the whole community over the next week.”
