It's been almost two weeks since the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Square Enix is now coming out with first sale numbers. And they are quite fascinating.
The game sold more than 3.5 million copies in just first 3 days of the release, shipped and digitally sold combined. For many gamers around the world, original Final Fantasy 7 from 1997 is their favourite childhood game, and they are now adults who're reliving their happiest moments with Final Fantasy VII Remake. Of course, there're a lot of newcomers to the series who also enjoy the game.
The hype around the remake was huge, especially considering that the game was delayed a couple of times, and even at the verge of cancelling a few years ago. It will be interesting to see if the game will surpass sales of the original game, which has sold over 12.3 million units worldwide across all platforms, and two million copies within three days of its release just in Japan.
As of now, Final Fantasy 7 Remake is the fastest-selling PlayStation 4 game ever, beating the previous record held by Spider-man: 3.3 million units sold in first three days.
We're proud to announce we shipped and digitally sold over 3.5M copies of #FinalFantasy VII Remake in 3 days! 🥳
