Two Rocket League pros face bans after racist and homophobic chat leaked

The Rocket League esports community woke up to a leaked Discord log of the two professional players exchanging slurs like it’s nothing.
Two Rocket League pros face bans after racist and homophobic chat leaked

Original story:

Alex "Decka" Tsoutsouras and William "Requiem" Hutchinson, two top Oceanic professional Rocket League players, are currently in hot water for an alleged slur-heavy conversation that was leaked on Monday 25th October.

Both veterans, playing professionally since 2017, were exposed by another OCE player, Eli "eli" C., who decided to post the Discord screenshot with the caption: “Just gonna leave this here since decka blocked me :cowbow: gn.”

The post quickly spread across the RL community with the vast majority reacting in disgust to the pros flagrant and nonchalant way of spewing the slurs out.

Below you can find the leaked screenshot, discretion is advised:

Whilst Requiem’s birthday isn’t listed in his Liqui, Decka just turned 22 last month, making the fans grunt even louder for the inexcusable behaviour at such age.

The tweet made it all the way from the upside-down continent to Rocket League/Psyonix Senior Community Manager, Devin Connors’ phone who states they are, in fact, “looking into this.”

Some speculate Psyonix won’t be able to do much as the controversial interaction is outside their jurisdiction yet the incident might be linked to a match that took place briefly earlier.

Panik Gaming, current home to the screenshot’s OP Eli, faced off against Requiem’s The Grogans in a win-or-home series where the latter swept in the best-of-five, qualifying for the OCE regional event.

The exchange might’ve started after the unfortunate finish for Panik, later turned into a full-out shouting match that included the two pros coming after Eli with the uncalled for and insensitive slurs.

This wouldn’t be the first time RLCS organisers hand out hefty bans as they ruled two pros with a six-month ban and a one-year ban in the last 12 months for Code of Conduct violations both in Discord and in-game.

Followers of Rocket League esports speculate the same fate awaits the two former Oceanic champions as they have yet to comment publicly on the matter. We’ll keep you posted as the situation develops.
