The Rocket League Item Shop has a lot to offer, including several niche items. Items range from 007, Ghostbusters and Back to the Future DLCs to exclusive rarity cosmetics and decals for your favourite esports organisations. The latter, however, has been in a kind of disarray, such as not including grassroots organisations, failing to update team logos changes in a timely manner, or simply placing teams (like Oxygen Esports, for example) in the wrong regions.
This was aggravating for a multitude of reasons until developers Psyonix decided to bring this to a halt and perform a complete revamp of the system, from the ground up. For the 2021/22 season, the Rocket League Esports Shop will have the biggest selection of teams (including various items from each team) that span several different regions.
Rocket League item shop to add home and away esports decals
The Rocket League Esports Shop will now feature organisations from North America, South America, Europe and Oceania. Each team included in the shop will feature two decals, a home version and an away version for the first time ever since including the esports shop feature.
The esports decals can be bought using esports tokens, which cannot be traded amongst players. These tokens may be purchased in bundles of 100, 600, 1200 or 2500 at a time.
Esports Operations Manager, Murty “Scheist” Shah, worked closely with each organisation to bring these updated and brand-new looks to life. In a statement, he mentioned how each team was provided with a Psyonix template and guidelines to make the best of each brand. He also indicated that he expects the process to add new teams to the Esports Shop, swifter than ever.
The way that professional esports athletes and fans can connect with their favourite organisation through these in-game features resonates strongly with rocketeers. This is especially the case with Home and Away decals, which have been favourably received with praise, claps and cheers all around.
