Since Rayquaza was introduced in Pokémon Emerald, players have either loved it or loathed the snake-like 'mon. Interestingly, it's often for the same reason.
Rayquaza is incredibly strong and created quite the controversy in the competitive, as well as the casual, player base. Pokémon Emerald gave players a free level 70 Rayquaza before the Elite Four and it’s considered to be one of the most overpowered Pokémon to this day for that reason.
However, since then, Rayquaza has been toned down. So much so, that many players are wondering if they can catch it in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The newly added Ramanas Park holds many other Legendary Pokémon, so why not Rayquaza? Well, players can find out if they can catch the Legendary snake dragon below.
Catching Rayquaza in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
As the above picture indicates, Rayquaza can in fact be caught in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. In order to do so, you will need to have completed the main story and the Pokémon League. You then need to complete the Sinnoh Pokédex, done by witnessing all 151 Pokémon in the region. Once you have, then you can claim the National Dex from Professor Rowan/Oak.
If you have the National Dex, you can make your way to Ramanas Park. This new location is south of Sandgem down Route 219. You’ll need to surf down to the east side and past Route 220 and 221 to reach the park.
Once at the park, you can make your way inside and keep searching until you’ve found the Stratospheric Room cave. Inside, you’ll need to find the Stratospheric Slate, which is required to trigger the encounter with Rayquaza.
However, this can only be done by purchasing several other slates before that one. In order to buy the slates, you’ll need Mysterious Shards, which are only found in the Grand Underground. The shards are found in the walls and take a while to find in bulk.
Once you have 27 of the shards, you can head back to Ramanas Park to buy all of the slates you need before being able to buy the Stratospheric Slate. After this is done, head back into the cavern to fight Rayquaza and add it to your party in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
