After Pokémon Sword and Shield’s first expansion Isle of Armor released in June, all eyes are on what’s in store for the second DLC pack The Crown Tundra.
The second DLC expansion will take players to a snowy mountainous area, while also offering a new co-op mode where you can team up to tackle Max Raid Battle Dens.
Smaller additions however have already be found by dataminers within Pokémon Sword and Shield’s files following the Isle of Armor update. So what’s been leaked about The Crown Tundra DLC? Here’s a rundown.

New items leak for The Crown Tundra DLC
Twitter user mattyoukhana_ has unearthed 17 new items which look to be released alongside The Crown Tundra.
Many of the files however are encrypted, although the dataminer has listed the ones discovered so far.
- 1589: Mark Charm
- 1590: Calyrex fusion related (fuse)
- 1591: Calyrex fusion related (separate)
- 1592: Galarian Slowking evo item
- 1604: Armorite Ore equivalent
- 1606: Hidden Ability Capsule
Among the list is an item which will evolve Galarian Slowpoke into Galarian Slowking, similar to Isle of Armor’s DLC item for Galarian Slowbro.
It’s also believed new Pokémon Calyrex will evolve in some capacity in The Crown Tundra - with the two items listed potentially connected to its evolutions.
The Hidden Ability Capsule will let players change a Pokémon’s ability to a hidden ability, as shown by the below clip where Scorbunny’s ability changes to Libero.
Thanks to those who brought it to my attention, looks like Item 1606 for DLC 2 is an Ability Capsule designed to change Ability 1/2 -> Hidden! pic.twitter.com/L2CFj2eciQ

This could have a huge impact on competitive play. Players in Sword and Shield now have to catch a Pokémon in a Max Raid Battle, breed it, and simply hope the ability trait passes down with a 60% probability - so this Hidden Ability Capsule will stop it falling down to chance.

This is honestly just a big meme at this point. pic.twitter.com/y1GrvU97D2
Following the release of Isle of Armor, dataminers discovered outlined plans of where the Crown Tundra will appear on Sword and Shield’s map.
While it’s important to take this information with a grain of salt, a video shows The Crown potentially being added to the south of Sword and Shield’s main area.

The following should be obvious:

Some of the locations you can visit using ability Fly also appear to have leaked, which appear to reveal where you can catch the new Regi forms. The locations, as revealed by mattyoukhana_ are shown above.
While these are likely placeholder names, it's still possibly an indication that The Crown Tundra will be more substantial in size in comparison to the Isle of Armor area.
When will Pokemon The Crown Tundra release?
The Crown Tundra only has an official release date of fall 2020, which lines it up, at the latest, for release in November.
An exact release date is yet to be announced, although we could hear more at the next Nintendo Direct expected in the coming weeks.
