The next generation of Pokémon is set to arrive with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The next games will come with a plethora of new Pokémon and bring players to a brand new continent.
A new announcement trailer has given a sneak peek of the new landscape and continent as well as a glimpse at the first three Pokémon that trainers will choose from at the beginning of the game. We also share what we know so far about the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet release date.
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet release date
Though there isn’t an official release date at the moment, the announcement trailer of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet displayed a late-2022 release window. That would make this the second major game for Pokémon during 2022 alongside Pokémon Arceus.

- Players unhappy with Pokémon GO changes to Rare Candy
- How to catch Misdreavus in Pokémon Legends Arceus
- How to evolve Basculin in Pokémon Legends Arceus
With the game still in development, this date has the potential to be pushed into 2023, but Pokémon fans are keeping their fingers crossed.
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet - Starter Pokémon
The announcement trailer has revealed the first three starter Pokémon for Scarlet and Violet. As with every new generation, the first three Pokémon are a Grass, Water, and Fire-type Pokémon.
Sprigatito is the Grass starter, Fuecoco will be the Fire Pokémon, and Quaxly is going to be the Water-type.
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Details
Based on the videos provided and the names of the starter Pokémon, many fans are speculating that the game will have either a Spanish or Italian theme. This is assumed because of the building architecture and other clues hidden in the announcement trailer.
It seems that this new region is going to be more open-world than any prior Pokémon game. Even though Pokémon Arceus was more explorable than other titles, it still wasn’t fully open-world.
One major difference revealed between Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be that the player characters have different outfits that correspond to their respective titles.
