Pokémon GO’s annual Water Festival is returning in 2022 with some incredible events and the debut of some Pokémon that have yet to be in Pokémon GO.
Here's everything trainers need to know about this year's Pokémon GO Water Festival. We'll detail which Pokémon will be featured, as well as the event's overall schedule.
Pokémon GO Water Festival 2022 - Schedule and Featured Pokémon
The 2022 Pokémon GO Water Festival will take place from 12th May 2022, at 10:00 a.m. to 20th May 2022 at 8:00 p.m. local time.
Pokémon debuts
The following Pokémon will make their debut during this event:
- Lapras wearing a scarf
- Dewpider
- Araquanid
Lapras wearing a scarf will be available in its shiny variety.

- Pokemon GO May 2022 Raid Hours - Schedule, featured Pokemon, more
- Pokémon GO May Spotlight Hours - Schedule, featured Pokémon, more
- Pokémon GO Fest Berlin - Tickets, featured Pokemon, more
Binacle will also be appearing for the first time in its shiny variety.
Pokémon wild encounters
The following Pokémon will be more common in the wild during the event:
- Tentacool
- Slowpoke
- Goldeen
- Staryu
- Magikarp
- Marill
- Lotad
- Surskit
- Carvanha
- Wailmer
- Tympole
- Binacle
- Dewpider
- Poliwhirl
- Mantine
- Alomomola
Raids
The following Pokémon will appear in Raids during the event:
- Qwilfish
- Wailmer
- Spritzee
- Helioptile
- Rockruff
- Alolan Raichu
- Lapras wearing a scarf
- Feraligatr
- Azumarill
- Ludicolo
- Tapu Fini
- Mega Blastoise
Players will be able to engage in the new Mega Raids, which were recently updated, during the Water Festival event.
Pokémon GO Water Festival 2022 - Research
New research, as well as bonuses to existing research, will be available during the Water Festival 2022 event.
Special and timed research
During this event, a Special Research story will become available. There will also be a Timed Research during the event.
Rewards for the Timed Research include 50 Gyarados Mega Energy, 1,000 XP, 1,000 Stardust, and encounters with Lapras wearing a scarf and Dewpider.
Field research
The following Pokémon will appear when you complete Field Research tasks:
- Magikarp
- Carvanha
- Wailmer
- Luvdisc
- Binacle
- Dewpider
- Lapras wearing a scarf
- Marill
Completing certain types of Field Research will also allow players to earn Blastoise Mega Energy and Gyrados Mega Energy.
Pokémon GO Water Festival 2022 - Challenges and bonuses
The following event bonuses will be active throughout the Water Festival event:
- Rainy Lure Modules will last for two hours
- 2x Candy from hatching Eggs
- Increased Candy XL from hatching Eggs
There will also be a global challenge that will require all trainers to catch a total of 600,000,000 Water-type Pokémon. Upon reaching this goal, all trainers will receive 2x Candy for catching Pokémon.
