Most Pokémon fans are now enjoying a big trip to the past, all thanks to the global release of the long-awaited Sinnoh remakes, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl.
If you are currently focused on trying to find all Pokémon to fill the entire Pokédex, it’s more than certain you will also have on your to-do list to catch the legendary Pokémon on the cover, Dialga and Palkia, two powerful entities capable of controlling the time and space.
So if you are looking to fight and catch them, you have come to the right place. Also, just in case, there are SPOILERS ahead.
Catching Dialga and Palkia in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Since the original releases back in 2006, both Dialga and Palkia have become two of the most famous Pokémon of the fourth generation, not only because of their meme king status relishing about the "pressure" they exert, but because of their influence on Sinnoh.
That’s why getting them will not be an easy task, since you have a long way to go before you have the opportunity to get one of the two on your adventure.
Before going any further, you must have already beaten the first seven gyms of the game, in order to have access to the final part of the Team Galactic plot as well as the place where the final battle will take place.
That said, once you manage to defeat Candice at the Snowpoint Gym, Cyrus, the leader of Team Galactic, will intervene in Sinnoh by having captured the Lake Trio, Azelf, Uxie, and Mesprit, so you must go to Veilstone City directly towards their hideout.
When you get here, you must defeat all the Team Galactic grunts you met until you find Cyrus, who you will have to defeat to continue your adventure as well as obtain the highly valued Master Ball.
With Cyrus defeated, you will now have to free the Lake Trio from a room guarded by Saturn, the 1st Commander of Team Galactic. Defeat him and then get out of the base.
From here, we will recommend you to buy as many Ultra Balls as possible, since your next stop will be the imposing Mount Coronet, where you will have to reach the top after going through a maze full of Team Galactic soldiers.
Once at the top, you must face the other two commanders, Mars and Jupiter, in a double battle, for which your rival will arrive as support to face them. However, once you manage to defeat them you will be witness a special cutscene, where Cyrus will summon either Dialga or Palkia, making his last shot to fulfil his desires.
You will have to stop Cyrus again and defeat him a second time, at which time he will put up no resistance and after chatting with Professor Rowan, you will have the opportunity to catch the legendary Pokémon.
Here we urge you to save the game before facing Dialga or Palkia, since this will be the only chance to catch them in your game, so if you defeat them by accident, they will not appear again.
After you do this, it will be time to try to capture them. Both Pokémon will be at level 47, as well as having good stats, so catching them can be a bit frustrating if you can't reduce their health to a minimum.
Now, by having the Master Ball with you, you can use it and save yourself a lot of this frustration, but if you are more of a collector or like to use it on another Pokémon, the only remedy will be to lower its life to almost zero and use as many Ultra Balls as necessary.
Once you catch it, in the place where either of the two were, you will find the Adamant Orb or the Lustrous Orb, objects that will substantially increase the power of both legendary Pokémon once they hold them.
Finally, since the other Pokémon on the cover will be exclusive to its respective version, the only way to have both in the same game will be through the Union Room or transferring it from your Pokémon HOME.
Although if all you need is to cover its space in the Pokédex, this can be done by going to Celestic Town after you become Champion, since in Cynthia's grandmother house you can find the photo of Dialga or Palkia, depending on the game you have, and it will be registered in your Pokédex as if you had spotted them in battle.
