February will see a plethora of in-game content arriving in Pokémon GO alongside new Raid battles, Pokémon debuts, and various themed events. The month also resets the season’s Field Research tasks which see new tasks added for the month.
Four more Pokémon will be gaining Spotlight Hour events for which Trainers can encounter featured Pokémon, including Pidgey, more often in the wild, but can it be a Shiny Pidgey? Here’s what we know if there’s a Shiny Pidgey in Spotlight Hour event for Pokémon GO.
Will There Be A Shiny Pidgey In Pokémon GO?
The Normal/Flying-type Pokémon, Pidgey, will kick off the weekly limited-time event, Spotlight Hour, as the event’s first featured Pokémon. As for whether there will be a Shiny Pidgey spawning during this event, Trainers will encounter a Shiny Pidgey in-game.
The Pidgey Spotlight Hour event will start on 7th February 2023 for an hour; Pidgey and Shiny Pidgey will spawn more frequently in the wild. This limited-time event will be available between 6 pm and 7 pm local time.
As previously detailed, there are several event bonuses you can take advantage of for the event’s duration. This includes the featured Pokémon’s bonus of double XP when evolving Pokémon, but other event bonuses will be active during Pidgey’s Spotlight Hour event listed below:
- Double XP when evolving Pokémon
- Double Stardust when catching Pokémon
- Double XP when catching Pokémon
- Double Candy when catching Pokémon
To further your chances of encountering Pidgey in the wild, you may activate Incense or Daily Adventure Incense or a Lure Module, which must be placed on a PokéStop. Ensure you have enough items to successfully catch Pidgey in your Bag, including Poké Balls and various Berries.
These include Razz Berries, which boosts your success rate of catching Pidgey, and Nanab Berries, which will slow its movement, which can significantly help you. Lastly, Pinap Berries will double the amount of Candy you’ll earn once it’s caught, which helps evolve Pidgey to Pidgeotto and Pidgeot.
You may utilize various types of Throws to boost your chances of catching Pidgey, like Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws. These types of Throws will contribute to your progression on the month’s Field Research tasks which you can earn encounters with Pokémon.
