The leaks have proven to be true as Krafton reveals that they will soon be introducing a free to play model for PUBG: Battlegrounds, one of the most popular battle royale games to date.
Starting from 12th January, players will be able to play the game for free on all the platforms, including PC, Xbox, Stadia and PlayStation. Not only this, but after the F2P transition takes place, Krafton will also be introducing Battlegrounds Plus.
It will be a one-time purchase DLC costing 12.99 USD and unlock access to Survival Mastery XP +100% boost, Career – Medal tab, Ranked Mode and custom matches that will not be available in the free model.

Krafton will also be offering a ton of rewards to the PUBG: Battlegrounds players as the game goes through this big transition.
Players who have already or will own and play PUBG before it becomes free to play will be rewarded with PUBG – Special Commemorative Pack, which includes a free Battlegrounds Plus upgrade, Battle-hardened Legacy Corset, Battle-hardened Legacy Jacket, Battle-hardened Legacy Gloves, Battle-hardened Legacy Pants, Battle-hardened Legacy Boots, Shackle and Shanks Legacy – Pan, and Nameplate – Battle-hardened Legacy.
In addition to this, the Commemorative Pack will also unlock Captain’s Camo Hat, Captain’s Camo Mask, Captain’s Camo Gloves and bonus 1300 G-Coin as free rewards.
These rewards will be sent to the players' accounts once they log into the game after 12th January.
