The Overwatch Winter Wonderland event has become an annual tradition within Blizzard’s shooter, offering festive skins and special modes for a limited time.
This year is no different. While many might be anticipating the recently announced sequel, Blizzard continues to serve up special events for the original game which, alongside new characters, have kept players coming back on payload protection.

What can we expect?
There haven’t been any official announcements on what will feature in the next Winter Wonderland update, although it’s safe to assume the return of past inclusions.
Last year’s update didn’t bring in any new modes but instead brought back Yeti Hunt and Mei’s Snowball, so it’s likely these will similarly return in 2019.
Many of the game’s maps, like Hanamura, King’s Row and Blizzard World, were also given a winter makeover in 2018’s update, so it’s not entirely unreasonable to assume they’ll be back too.
Blizzard has also offered past Winter Wonderland skin cosmetics at a discounted price each following year, so the likes of Sugar Plum Fairy Mercy, Krampus Junkrat and Snow Fox Lucio from 2018, should be up for grabs at a smaller credits price.
We’ve had two new heroes, Baptiste and Sigma, added to Overwatch in 2019 – so these will likely be on the line-up for new festive skins.
When does Winter Wonderland end?
Winter Wonderland 2019 ends on 2 January 2020.
