Is Outriders Worldslayer Coming To Xbox Game Pass?

Outriders Worldslayer is the newest expansion to 2021's third-person looter shooter, making significant tweaks to the base game while adding nuances to make the new campaign and endgame Trial of Tarya Gratar accessible to new players.

With Outriders Worldslayer seemingly being a relaunch for the game, many fans and newcomers may be wondering whether this would be coming to Xbox Game Pass at launch, given that the base game launched on Microsoft's subscription service and is still available to play.

Will Outriders Worldslayer Be Available On Xbox Game Pass?

Unfortunately, Outriders Worldslayer won't be coming to Xbox Game Pass, at least not at launch. This information comes straight from Outriders' official website: "While Outriders will be remaining on GamePass a little while longer, playing Outriders Worldslayer will require you to purchase the Worldslayer Upgrade."

This information may disappoint Game Pass users, particularly those that played the base game primarily through the subscription service. Furthermore, the choice of words indicates that the base game itself would not be available in Game Pass for much longer, either.

Outriders Worldslayer not being available on Day One on Game Pass shouldn't affect new players, though. On the other hand, veteran players may find themselves in a precarious situation. That's because the price difference between the Worldslayer expansion upgrade and Outriders Worldslayer is roughly $10.

Furthermore, for Game Pass owners, with the added discount, the price difference between the two ends up being just about $2, making the expansion upgrade option irrelevant.

If Square Enix does decide to pull the base game from Game Pass, players who purchased the expansion upgrade would again find themselves in a tricky spot. As such, the best and safest option is to buy Outriders Worldslayer in its entirety, where Game Pass owners could (at least) snag a 20% discount.

It's not the first time Xbox Game Pass users will find themselves in such a bizarre situation where they are indirectly compelled to buy the full package despite having finished or played the base game.

This isn't the first occurrence, either. Before the launch of Destiny 2: The Witch Queen expansion, Bungie pulled all prior expansions from Game Pass, leaving Game Pass owners no choice but to buy the version of the game.
