How to find thick hide in New World

As you begin to progress in New World, you’ll find yourself needing more advanced materials than what you originally needed at the start of the game. One example of this is thick hide, which is a step up from the other kinds of leather that you acquired from low-level boar and wolves early on in New World.

However, some players have no idea where they can find thick hide. It’s not something that you can just go out and find from a chest or one specific animal. You’ll need to do some searching and have some luck when it comes to acquiring thick hide in New World but it’s certainly not too difficult.

Finding thick hide in New World 

The thick hide is basically the more advanced version of rawhide, which all players will receive at some point after killing lower-level wild boar or wolves. Rawhide turns into coarse leather, which players also need for various quests or crafting recipes.

Whenever you start needing thick hide, though, you’re going to want to know how and where to find it. For starters, the thick hide is a random drop from one of several different animals in New World. These animals are higher level than the wolves that drop rawhide, so you’re going to need to be located in a more advanced area on the map. 

The level requirement for thick hide starts at around 30-35, so that’s when you can expect to start earning the resource via a drop from an animal. The animals themselves need to be this level or they likely won’t drop the hide you’re after. 

Below, you can see a list of every animal that can drop thick hide in New World.

• Bear
• Bison
• Boar
• Bobcat
• Elk
• Hound
• Lynx
• Wolf

As you can see, wolves and boar still drop thick hide, but only at a much higher level. You can find these animals in almost every region of New World but their higher-level versions are only available in a few regions, which are seen below. 

• Weaver’s Fen
• Ebonscale Reach
• Restless Shore
• Edengrove
• Mourningdale
• Shattered Mountain 
• Great Cleave
