As the NBA 2K league just crossed Week six of their regular season we enter the realms of their second in-season tournament in The Turn.
Here we forget just for a moment the good or bad streaks of the esport teams and focus on a weekend-long battle for the cash bag.
Will the Warriors Gaming Squad repeat as champions? Are we going to witness a lower-seed dark horse? Here we tell you everything you need to know to enjoy this year edition of NBA 2K League The Turn.
What is NBA 2K League The Turn?
After a pandemic break, I don’t blame you to be a bit disconnected from how this works.
This weekend-long tournament runs independent from the regular season of the league, yet it uses its standings to determine the seeding of all 23 squads.
Teams seeded 10-23 will start on Wednesday, July 14 to punch their ticket to the next day with a win. The whole tournament will be played under the best-of-three series with the winner advancing to the next round.
The round of 16 will be played on Thursday, quarterfinals on Friday and we will crown a champion on Saturday the 17th.
The Turn “Archetype Ban”
For the third straight edition of The Turn, we will have an added layer to the squads’ strategy.
In each series, each team, starting with the visitor, will select two archetypes so neither team can use players with those attributes. In the second game, each team will select a third archetype to ban, bringing the total banned to six.
If a third game is needed to define a series winner the settings of the second game will remain with no additional bans. If you want to deep dive into the archetypes you can check the site’s full breakdown.
NBA 2K League The Turn how to watch
You will be able to follow every single match live on the league’s Twitch channel. Additionally, some matches will be aired on ESPN’s digital platforms and the league’s YouTube channel.
The Turn 260K prize pool
The prize of every competition will always be victory and experience, yet a little dought never hurt anyone’s pocket.
The teams will battle to earn the first-place prize of $ 117,000 with the remainder being awarded between the seeds two to eight.
