A new leak for the free-to-play (F2P) fighting game, MultiVersus, teased the potential of a new playable character, Big Chungus, potentially joining the MultiVersus character roster. This speculation comes after a trademark filing surfaced online for a variation of the Bugs Bunny character to be used in-game.
Whether Big Chungus will be a new playable character or another cosmetic for Bugs Bunny has yet to be determined, but it sparked plenty of debate. As of writing, there has been no official statement or confirmation from publisher Warner Bros. Games regarding the trademark.
Will MultiVersus Add Big Chungus To Character Roster?
Video Games Chronicle reporter, Andrew Marmo, shared on Twitter on 27th August 2022 that Warner Bros. Games may add another character to MultiVersus’ expanding roster. According to a screenshot attached to the Tweet, it appears that the publisher had filed a trademark for the Bugs Bunny meme, Big Chungus.

It also showed that the filing was made on 26th August 2022, allowing the publisher to utilize the character in-game when approved. Additionally, this could mean that Big Chungus will either be a new playable character or something else entirely for MultiVersus.
This isn’t specified in the trademark filing, as they can use the character in any manner possible, so nothing is off the table. It’s worth noting that Big Chungus is featured in the mobile game Looney Tunes: World of Mayhem as a playable character, so it’s plausible that the character could be a new fighter in MultiVersus.
On the other hand, there’s potential for it to be a cosmetic for Bugs Bunny, likely purchased using Gold or Gleamium and not through the MultiVersus Season 1 Battle Pass. The publisher has the authority to use the character or its likeness in any form in Season 1 and beyond.

Big Chungus first appeared in the Looney Tunes short, Wabbit Twouble, in 1941, where Bugs Bunny ballooned in size to mock Elmer Fudd. In contrast, the character lived in obscurity for decades before being revived in 2018.
The character turned into a meme in response to a joke about a game being developed surrounding the titular character. It later reappeared in 2019 after a YouTube creator used Big Chungus in a series of films battling other popular characters like Shaggy and the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s villain, Thanos.
MultiVersus has featured countless Easter Eggs, references, and callbacks for most of its characters, including the recently released Morty Smith from Rick & Morty. And with the possibility of Big Chungus’ inclusion in the game certainly excites its player base for its massive potential.
