[Original Story Follows] - Mortal Kombat 1 has been officially revealed and will be launching on next-gen consoles this year on September 19, 2023 (with early access starting on September 14, 2023). Not much know is known about the game at present aside from the recent trailer that dropped, revealing some classic fatalities and some returning characters. However, there is guaranteed to be tons of new content coming to the game, one of which is the inclusion of Kameo Fighters.
So, if you are interested in learning more about Kameo Fighters, you've come to the right place. This article will cover everything you need to know about Kameo Fighters in Mortal Kombat 1!
What Are Kameo Fighters In Mortal Kombat 1?
Kameo Fighters are unique DLC characters that will be added to Mortal Kombat 1 post-launch. It is stated that Kameo Fighters is a system that brings a unique roster of partner characters into the mix and that the developers are looking forward to showing off more about this feature, as well as new elements of the game, very soon.
Not much is known about the Kameo Fighters at present but it doesn't seem they will be the same as characters we've traditionally seen released as part of the 'Kombat Pack DLC'. It's also unknown whether Kameo Fighters will be free or paid for DLC characters.
It's possible that these Kameo Fighters are specifically crossovers with other popular franchises. While nothing is confirmed at present, rumors have been circulating across the internet that two of the aforementioned Kameo Fighters will be none other than Peacemaker (who first made his on-screen debut played by John Cena in The Suicide Squad and then later in the Peacemaker original series), and Homelander (Leader of The Seven and played by Antony Starr in the popular series The Boys).
These we assume will take the place of guest characters who have previously been included in Kombat Pack DLC. For instance, past Kombat Packs saw the likes of Alien, Predator, Joker, The Terminator T-800 and horror icons like Jason Voorhees and Leatherface included.
Having even one of these characters make the jump over to a game like Mortal Kombat opens up the door for even more potential DLC characters from other franchises to join the roster. Much like in a game such as Super Smash Brothers, which picks and chooses characters from popular franchises to build out its roster, we may see something similar occur within Mortal Kombat 1.
Mortal Kombat 1 Kameo Fighters List
Unfortunately, at the time of writing this, we have no further knowledge about who any of these Kameo Fighters will be, nor when they will release.
However, we do believe that the inclusion of famed actor and martial artist, Jean-Claude Van Damme (as a skin for Johnny Cage) could be one clue as to who we could see included as Kameo fighters in the future.
For now though, stay tuned as we uncover more information about Mortal Kombat 1 Kameo Fighters closer to launch.
