Midway have revealed that the next Mortal Kombat, previously known as Mortal Kombat 12, will be named Mortal Kombat 1 and is set to release on September 19, 2023. The name, alongside new cinematics, were revealed in a trailer on May 18, 2022.
The new game will be launching worldwide across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. According to an FAQ page, all versions of Mortal Kombat 1 are being built on NetherRealm Studios technology, with the NetherRealm team developing both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game. QLOC will be handling the Steam and Epic Games Store versions, while Shiver Entertainment and Saber Interactive will be developing the Nintendo Switch version.
Mortal Kombat 1 will have various editions available to pre-order alongside the regular Standard Edition, including a Premium Edition available in both physical and digital forms and a Kollector's Edition available physically.
But while we're still a few months away from the game's release, players will no doubt be eager to gain early access to Mortal Kombat 1. Thankfully, there are a few ways to do that.
