Marvel Rivals developer NetEase Games is nearing the finish line as they're about to ship their superhero team-based PvP shooter Marvel Rivals. The game will be released in a few hours for consoles and PCs, with preloading capabilities available for PC, so the developer released their "final discussion before launch."
The seventh Developer Talk discussion was posted on the official Marvel Rivals news site, where the team shared some important details on the game's Monetization model, which will be present at launch. This included more insight into the various in-game offerings while emphasizing that they'll "be charging for cosmetics that will provide only visual changes, with no stat bonuses or pay-to-win elements."

The latest Dev Talk post discussed several offerings relating to the game's Monetization system that will be available to all players. The Battle Pass is the biggest Monetization feature that will be shipped with the game at launch; the developer reiterated that there will be paid (Luxury) and free tracks that offer players a variety of items.
But what caught the attention of players ahead of the game's release is that once they've purchased a Luxury Battle Pass, they can still redeem its rewards with Chromo Tokens (the Battle Pass tokens earned from tasks and events) in the following season, especially when they haven't completed it. The Season 0 Battle Pass will be priced "at half the standard rate of future ones" because this season is shorter, and the developer added that it will contain "proportionally one-half of the items."
The developer confirmed that Marvel Rivals features two main in-game currencies, Lattice (Gold) and Units (Blue), which can be acquired in various ways and used similarly, as the Units are obtained for free via the Battle Pass, completing Achievements and in-game events or exchanged "at a 1:1 ratio using Lattice." On the other hand, Lattice can be obtained through in-game purchases, but small quantities may be "distributed through the Battle Pass," the developer noted.
Regarding character cosmetic items, these items are "the only paid content in the game," for which most are acquired through bundles available from the game's storefront. It's worth noting that the developer stated that the skins can be purchased separately; however, offering them in bundles usually means players can get the skin and additional items at a discounted rate.
There will also be instances where players are awarded free cosmetics, like the Iron Man Armor Model 42, which will be distributed to all players for free at launch. As mentioned before, completing Achievements and in-game events can gift them free cosmetics and Units, which can help fund cosmetics rotating in the store without having to use real-world currencies to purchase them.
