Marvel Rivals boasts an impressive roster of both iconic and lesser-known Marvel characters for players to enjoy in intense 6v6 battles. However, a few problematic characters have been wreaking havoc on the game’s balance, leaving players frustrated and vocal about their concerns. Let’s dive into the specifics and see how NetEase plans to address these issues.
Many of the Marvel Rivals Characters Are Set for Big Nerfs After Player Feedback
If you’re not familiar, every character in Marvel Rivals comes with unique abilities that vary in strength and playstyle, but they’re supposed to be balanced in some way. For example, Iron Man dominates at long range and controls space like a pro if you know how to position him. But the trade-off is that he’s made of tissue paper - super fragile and vulnerable if his jet boosts aren’t ready to bail him out.
It's great how Marvel Rivals is actually pretty well balanced so early all things considered. But almost every single tier list I've seen having these characters in S tier seems pretty telling lolol. Definitely wouldn't mind them getting nerfed. pic.twitter.com/xUne0l8Jk9

Unfortunately, not every character got the memo on balance, and fans are fuming about the “broken” state of some heroes. Venom, Moon Knight, Jeff the Land Shark, and The Punisher have all been called out, but the worst offenders by far are Hela and Iron Fist.
We already mentioned Iron Fist in our Marvel Rivals review, but let’s dig a bit deeper. This guy has way too much mobility - he’s got a triple jump (or technically a quadruple jump, since your first doesn’t count), a dragon kick that sends him flying across the map, and wall-running on top of that. Then toss in his offensive abilities, which hit like a freight train, and you’ve got a recipe for a nightmare matchup.

Hela, on the other hand, is just over-tuned stat-wise rather than ability-wise. The Goddess of Death can two-shot Duelists and delete them before you even blink, which is why so many players are calling her “busted.” I’ve seen matches where a good Hela could carry the whole game on her back unless the entire team focused her down.
The most frustrating part? Hela was already a problem during the beta. NetEase tried to nerf her by lowering her ultimate’s health - back then, she was practically unkillable while Ulting - but they also buffed her base stats and gave her a 15% seasonal damage increase for Season 0. So, yeah, that didn’t help.
Hopefully, NetEase listens to the community and rolls out some well-deserved nerfs for these characters. The issue isn’t their abilities; it’s the numbers and cooldowns behind them. Iron Fist, for example, could use a cooldown nerf to keep his mobility in check. With the Season 1 update coming in January, there’s a good chance these issues will finally get sorted out - but fingers crossed they do.
