In Icarus, the recently released session-based PvE survival game developed by the creator of DayZ, Dean Hall, players will need to battle against the environment, wildness, and the limited time for completing missions.
All these factors make the game a rather challenging experience, but that is exactly what survival game enthusiasts love about the genre.
Set on a distant planet known as Icarus, players are tasked to complete various missions in order to make the fortune they have come for, but this beautiful-yet-hostile planet will do everything in its power to prevent you from achieving that.
You will need to take care of your character's oxygen levels, protect yourself from natural disasters and harsh weather, and deflect attacks of various wild beasts lurking in the shadows and waiting for you to make one wrong move. And most importantly, you will need to complete your mission before your orbital pod abandons you.
In order to do this, you will need to level up, advance through your tech tree, and collect rare and precious resources that can be found around the planet.
And some of the rarest and most important resources, such as Iron Ore and Coal, can be found in caves scattered across the planet.
All cave locations in Icarus
Unlike a lot of other survival games, Icarus is not relying on procedural generation; the whole planet and all of its biomes are hand-crafted.
Still, there are some procedural elements that help each playthrough to feel different. This includes random weather events, resources appearing in different locations, and if caves are open or closed.
Caves in Icarus will always have the same exact position, but sometimes they will be open, while other times not. And not every cave in the game is equally approachable. Some are relatively easy to access, while others are high in the mountains or deep below the water.
You will find caves hidden by a pile of rocks, behind breakable stones, or hidden in some other ways.
In order to access them, and you want that if you want to survive your mission, you will first need to know where to search for them.
This is a full list of cave locations in Icarus, but keep in mind that their accessibility is random with each new mission:
