Nintendo Switch Pro Release Date Speculation
The Nintendo Switch Pro has been rumored for many years now. There are always rumors from partners that have helped created some of the hardware for the Switch that they are working on something new. However, Nintendo has repeatedly denied these rumors. Although there have been rumors for years, the Nintendo Switch Pro certainly will not come out in 2023.
A report from Nikkei said that the President of Nintendo stated that there are no plans for new hardware in 2023. They also claim that they predict 20 million Nintendo Switches will be sold in 2023. Because of this, they said if a new Nintendo hardware should come out, it would come out in the second half of 2024.
Nintendo Switch Price And Specs
With all of the rumors of the Nintendo Switch Pro, it is hard to pinpoint what the Switch Pro will actually be capable of. There are some that claim that the Nintendo Switch Pro will be able to have 4K Support. This would be through what is supposed to be a custom Nvidia Tegra Xavier processor. They would also be working with companies to prevent something like Joycon Drift from ever happening again.
That is why Nintendo supposedly filed for a new Joycon patent back in 2018. The new Joycon appears to not have the ability to slide into the Switch as the original one does. This could mean that Nintendo is aiming for something completely different for its controllers with the next big hardware release. Hopefully, the patent could help guarantee that the controllers work as they should.
Or, Nintendo could be going in a completely different direction. There is the fact that Nintendo's President Shuntaro Furukawa said that even if the gaming landscape changes, they "do not believe that business trends for other companies will have a significant impact on our business." We could see something completely new from Nintendo yet again.
Depending on the direction the next console from Nintendo goes, the price will vary. If they go in the direction of the Nintendo Switch Pro, which includes 4K Support, higher processing, and more, then the price for the Nintendo Switch Pro could go as high as $499. But if Nintendo marches to the beat of its own drum yet again, then the price could be much lower. We will have to wait to see more.
