The time has finally come for GTA Online next-gen after years of waiting. First released to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2013, GTA Online is the multiplayer facet of GTA V allowing for online fun with friends.
GTA Online next-gen will release to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles, though the file sizes will vary for each platform. The new era of GTA Online will feature stunning visuals and a totally realistic gameplay experience.
Now a popular question is popping up in GTA Online circles after a free period made headlines. It won't be available to all players, but here's how to play GTA V next-gen for free.
GTA V next-gen how to play for free
Set to release 15th March, the GTA V next-gen pre-load period is now live for players who want to get the game as soon as possible. Both the file sizes and prices differ for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, with the latter offering an additional bonus.
Xbox Series X|S users will have the chance to purchase GTA V (single-player story mode and GTA Online) 50% off at $19.99 USD / £17.49 for the first three months after launch. GTA Online will also be available as a standalone purchase for $9.99 USD / £8.99 for the first three months, also 50% off during that period.
On PlayStation 5, GTA V (single-player story mode and GTA Online) will be a whopping 75% off for the first three months, costing just $9.99 USD / £8.75. The standalone GTA Online will be completely free for the first three months for PS5 users, and will eventually cost $19.99 USD / £17.99.
