GTA Online 2023 Winter Update: Release Date News, Leaks, And More

GTA Online is a game that has been out for a long time now and despite its age, it has a stable player base that is always excited about what is coming to the game. That is due to the fact that Rockstar has created a lot of new content for the game and they are constantly developing new content as well. This takes the form of major DLC drops for the game.

In this DLC drop, new content is added which could be new vehicles, new missions, new game modes, and so much more. Because of that, fans are always expecting more DLC to drop for the game. Thankfully, Rockstar tends to work on a schedule so we have an idea of when to expect more DLC. Here, we will go over what to expect from the 2023 winter update of GTA Online.

GTA Online 2023 Winter Update Leaks

So far, we have no official news for the GTA Online Winter 2023 Update. At this point, we do not even know that the update is even happening although we highly suspect it will given Rockstar's previous cadence of content. The fact of the matter is that Grand Theft Auto 6 is very likely not coming out in 2023, so we should be getting a major Winter update for GTA Online.

Despite no official news, there are several prominent leaks that could indicate what the next major DLC could include. There have been an increasing number of movie set spawn points that have been appearing since mid-2022. These movie spawn points and other movie props are completely unused. Chances are, this will be a major movie-themed DLC that will feature Michael De Santa, a major character in Grand Theft Auto 5.

For anyone who might have missed this particular easter egg, during the story missions for The Contract DLC, Franklin Clinton mentions that Michael De Santa is still alive; and working as an associate producer for Solomon Richards at Richards Majestic Studios.

When Will The GTA Online Winter 2023 Update Release?

As we have previously stated, there have been quite a large number of DLCs release for GTA Online down the years. The vast majority of these have major content updates that have dropped at the same time each year. Granted, in more recent years the frequency of these updates has slowed, however, by now, a clear pattern has emerged and generally speaking fans can expect to see two major content updates a year. One released during the Summer and the second during the Winter. As such, it seems fairly certain that we are going to get a new major update later this year.

The GTA Online 2023 Winter Update will most likely release in December this year. A large majority of the winter updates have dropped during the month of December, so it is a safe assumption that in 2023 it will be no different.

There is a small chance that the DLC will be announced in November, but a December launch is virtually guaranteed. Just to illustrate the point, here's a breakdown of release dates for GTA Online's past major updates

Of course, this is only a prediction, so take it with a grain of salt until we get any official info from Rockstar Games.
