GTA 6 is set to release in Fall 2025, putting an end to over a decade of waiting for the next entry into the Grand Theft Auto series. While it's no secret that Rockstar's flagship title is one of the most highly anticipated games of all time, a new report from the Financial Times suggests that it'll be shattering records within its first year of release.
According to the report, GTA 6 is expected to make over $3 billion dollars in its first year alone, while predicting that the game will exceed $1 billion in pre-orders before release. It'll likely be the biggest entertainment launch of 2025, more so than any movie set to release this year. The series' last entry, GTA 5, launched in 2013 and took just three days to cross the $1 billion in sales milestone.
It's worth remembering that these figures are projected with only consoles in mind. GTA 6 will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, not PC or last-gen consoles.
Grand Theft Auto 6 takes us back to the state of Leonida—based on Florida—where we'll be revisiting Vice City and its surrounding area, which we haven't seen since 2006's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. The game will also feature a female protagonist, Lucia, for the first time since 2000.
We're still anxiously awaiting a brand new trailer for GTA 6 to get a deeper look at what's to come from Rockstar in 2025. In the meantime, a new higher-resolution version of the game's first trailer recently surfaced on Chinese social media site BiliBili, giving us a few more details to sink our teeth into.
