Genshin Impact 4.0 update is all set to release on August 15, and it will be around 7 GB in size for PC and about 1.5 GB for mobile, which can take some time to download, and you will not be able to enjoy the new content till then. HoYoverse allows its players to pre-install the updates that will download most of the data files in advance. 

This allows Travelers to play immediately after the update is released by downloading a smaller update. The pre-install feature for Genshin Impact 4.0 update will be available on August 13, and here's how you can pre-install it.

First, open the Genshin Impact launcher, and you will get the option to update it. Once you do it, you will see the button to pre-install patch 4.0 on the left side of the Launch button. Click on it, and the data will start downloading automatically.

You can pre-install the update on mobile by using two methods. One is from the Paimon menu, as described above, and the other is to do it from the login screen.

You will find the "Pre-Install Resource Package" icon on the bottom left corner of the login screen, and you can hit it to start downloading data files. You can also pre-install the update by going to the Paimon Menu > Settings > Other > Pre-Install Resource Package, and the download will begin automatically.

You need to remember while pre-installing the update that you can't play the game until it has been downloaded completely. On the other hand, PC players can keep enjoying the game while the download is in progress.
